DESCRIERE
Kuby Immunology is supported in Achieve, Macmillan’s online learning system. Achieve is the culmination of years of development work put toward creating the most powerful online learning tool for biology students. It houses all of our renowned assessments, multimedia assets, e-books, and instructor resources in a powerful new platform.
Achieve supports educators and students throughout the full range of instruction, including assets suitable for pre-class preparation, in-class active learning, and post-class study and assessment.
Achieve content includes:
- Achieve Online Homework—Each Achieve chapter is accompanied by a digital homework assignment. Author-created end-of-chapter questions have been adapted into a variety of advanced question types, including cumulative questions. Scaffolded support of hints, answer-specific feedback, and stepped-out solutions provide a formative assessment experience.
- In-Class and Remote Learning Activities—In many classrooms, in-person and remote, student engagement is key to addressing misconceptions and reinforcing important concepts. The Kuby Immunology authors have provided instructions and materials for a variety of activities they use in their own classrooms to engage students. This digital update adds new concept map activities as well as instructions for adapting in-class activities for remote learning. These tried-and-true activities range in length and complexity and can serve as a springboard for active learning in the classroom.
- Case Studies[EC1] —Kuby Immunology case studies explore immune function, disease, and treatment through the application of primary research and data. Students are led through a series of experiments and challenged to interpret the data and draw conclusions. By integrating experimental techniques from immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry, these case studies teach students to think critically and synthesize their knowledge of immunology and other branches of science.
- New Big Picture problems: With the importance of connecting concepts, and building on information, we've now added a brand new Big Picture question, easily identified, in each chapter.
- Adaptive Quizzes: Adaptive Quizzes (formerly known as LearningCurve) now have more questions to ensure that students find the adaptive/extra questions useful in each chapter.
- New In-Class Group Work activity: We've created a big picture concept map, for in-class group work, that is included within the Active Lecture Slides.
- Active Lecture Slides include revised PowerPoint slide decks, with included iClicker questions in each chapter, so an instructor can easily include in class questions.
